August 5, 12, and 19, 2008: African Hand Drumming for Beginners

Drumming is AWESOME!  If you've never tried it, please do so this August.  IHM is offering a THREE-WEEK session during the first 3 Tuesdays evenings this August 5th , 12th , and 19th.  Lois Emond, Drum Coordinator for Women Spirit Song is the facilitator for these workshop sessions.  Lois is an amazing teacher; perfect for beginning students.   If you really want to try African hand Drumming, take advantage of this course. It brings you to an exciting primal place of rhythm within yourself.  Do it for YOU!

The 9 Rhythmic Patterns as taught by Babatunde Olatunji, master drummer, are an integral part - in fact - the  heart and soul of the drumming work done by the members of Women Spirit Song.  Lois Emond, Spiritsong Drum Coordinator has studied in Africa, knows her rhythms, LOVES those rhythms,  and will graciously help you to learn them.

If you do not have a drum, please let us know.  We will supply drums for those who do not yet have one.

August 26, 2008: All You Wanted to Know about WSS but Were Afraid to Ask!!!

For the last 11 years, over 300  women have sung with Women Spirit Song.  Over 300 women have raised their voices in song and over 300 hearts have beat to the rhythms of pure joy when we as a chorus are moved by beautiful music, sing a favorite song together or feel the sincere appreciation of our wonderful audiences.  This is a chorus of which YOU can be a part! Be the 300th-PLUS woman to lift her voice and say "YES....THIS YEAR I AM GOING TO DO IT!  I'M JOINING WSS!"

On Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 7:00 PM, you can ask WSS Director,  Victoria (Vic) Schneider any question you choose.  Come to the FREE INFORMATIVE SESSION FOR NEW WSS MEMBERS.  It's THE best way to get a really good sense for how WSS works and what it's all about.

September 4, 2008: Organizational Meeting for IHM Volunteers

Hands that help grow hearts that love! Hearts that love grow amazing communities! Inner Harmony Music is one such small community that is growing and that means we need more helping hands...specifically YOUR helping hands!

Below is a partial IHM Volunteer Task List.

1. "Support Staff" Duties for IHM concerts and large workshops 
2. Writing news articles and press releases for local newspapers and community television
3. Designing POST CARDS for IHM events such as concerts & workshops
4. Designing POSTERS for IHM events such as concerts & workshops
5. Labeling postcards for mailing
6. Preparing the mail for a bulk mailing
7. Distributing posters, flyers and brochures

This is by no means an all-inclusive list of activities.  This is merely a partial list of some of the Marketing/Advertising tasks.  There's oh so much more!

What can you expect to find out when you attend the meeting?

1. What kind of tasks need implementing by volunteers
2. The number of volunteers needed per task
3. The time involved per task
4. How many times per year each task is activated
5. The deadlines for task completion
6. To whom are you accountable when task is completed

October 25, 2008: Tools for the Journey 2

Have you ever thought: "If ONLY I had some way to calm myself, make myself FEEL better, quiet my mind!"  If you have ever said that to yourself and are still saying that, then make a date with yourself for  Saturday, October 25, 2008.

From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University at Webster Hall, Inner Harmony Music will present TOOLS for the JOURNEY II, a day long series of eight workshops.

Here is a portion of an excerpt from Ingrid Dinter, presenter of the workshop EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique. "The vibration of our thoughts and beliefs creates our reality at any given moment of our lives. Not our goals set the stage, but what we believe about them to be true."

Here's a sampling of the workshop offerings:

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) – “EFT is based on a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren't necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere.”  EFT Practitioner, Ingrid Dinter, EFT-ADV, Life Trainer and Life Coach and owner of Healing Now, will facilitate the workshop.  The results will AMAZE YOU!

Drumming As A Healing & Meditative Modality:  “Healing is the process of bringing together all the parts of yourself in the symphony of life, creating wholeness.”  Come join our drum circle as we drum and explore our internal rhythms, where self-healing can take place.  You need no drum experience to attend.  Drumming is a natural form of active meditation, which brings you into the present moment of health and harmony.  Facilitated by Lois Emond, WSS Drum Coordinator.

Head Prayer & Heart Prayer:  Which Is More Effective for You? Praying is something we all been taught to do.  How do we know if it works?  Why does it seem to work for some and not for others?  What are the components of prayer that touch us deeply?  Join Victoria Schneider as she shares “prayer concepts” with you.  Prayer:  A wonderful tool for your journey.

Therapeutic Touch:  Therapeutic Touch (TT) is a contemporary interpretation of many ancient healing practices.  It is an intentionally directed process of energy exchange during which the practitioner uses their hands as a focus to facilitate the healing process, decrease anxiety, promote relaxation, and diminish pain.  This workshop describes the basics of a TT treatment, and how it can be used to promote a more healing lifestyle.

Peaceful Healing through TONING:  Allow yourself the opportunity to sit in the center of a circle and be cocooned in healing sounds that wash over you (some resonant, some dissonant, but all harmonic) that in the most gentle way align with places in your body mind, heart and spirit to awaken within you an innate sense of peace and wholeness.  Presented by AKSARA, a 7 woman vocal ensemble, whose intention is always to bring healing to all sentient beings on the planet whenever they vocalize or sing.

MANDALAS:  Circling the Soul with artist Laurie Doucette.  Within the circle is revealed the “essence” of the creator of the mandala.  Working with the energy of the circle and all the circle encompasses is a wonderfully imaginative and creative opportunity to discover the many facets and essences of self.  A meditation within through color and geometric form.

An Overview of Evolutionary Astrology:  You are one of the twelve signs in the zodiac.  How does this “sign stuff” WORK anyway?  What does the SUN and the MOON and the SIGNS and the PLANETS have to do with your everyday life…and an even BIGGER questions is HOW does it work in your everyday life.  Victoria Schneider, an evolutionary astrologer will give you a brief overview during this short workshop.  You won’t learn ALL about yourself…but you may learn a few of the WHYS about yourself that help make your path a wee bit clearer.

November 15, 2008: Join AKSARA for their 10th Anniversary Concert!

On Saturday evening, November 15, 2008 at 7:00 PM, AKSARA will present their autumn concert celebrating their 10 years together. A repertoire of favorite pieces from their huge repertoire will fill the Nancy S. Boettiger Performing Arts Auditorium with the much loved AKSARA sound.

Please join them at the Derryfield School, 2108 River Road, Manchester, NH for a rich, full, harmonious and grace-filled evening of beautiful music. Tickets will go on sale September 1, 2008.

May 3, 2008: WORKSHOP 1: What's WSS All About?
Join WSS Director, Victoria (Vic) Schneider for an hour and a half at her home at 457 Milton St. in Manchester, NH to find out more about becoming a WSS member. She will answer the “who, what, when, where, and whys” of Women Spirit Song. You will learn about the “whens” and “hows” of the rehearsal and learning process. Bring a friend with you if you so choose.
This is a wonderful opportunity for mothers and daughters, aunts and nieces, grandmothers and granddaughters. The age limit for young girls is 12 years old. Being a member of WSS is truly a personal journey to YOURSELF via song!

May 10, 2008: WORKSHOP 2: Journey Through the Chakras with Yoga & Sound.
Join Rosemary Clough, Director of Moving Spirit, the Center for Yoga, Dance & Wellness, Merrimack, NH and member of WSS for an innovative experiential 3 hour workshop, discovering how the ancient Hindu metaphysical chakra system affects your body, mind and spirit. There are 7 major chakras, or subtle energy centers, in our bodies. We will have fun exploring and understanding the value of each of the chakras, integrating yoga, breathing techniques and sound. At the end of this workshop you will have a good overview of the chakra system and some practical tools to take home and use in your daily life.

April 6, 2008: Women Spirit Song Concert
WOMEN SPIRIT SONG in their 20th concert, directed by Victoria Schneider at the historic Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH - 80 Hanover St. Manchester, NH. 73 women lifting their voices in song - 16 Spiritsong Drummers drumming fabulous African rhythms. Joining WSS this year is ANIMATERRA, the women's community chorus from the Monadnock region here in NH....under the direction of Allison Aldrich.
