Laurie was born and raised in Franklin, NH and at the
age of 5 began her interest in the world of music through
dance...that was the beginning that led her to an interest
in guitar and flute lessons. Over the years the lessons
continued and took the form of serious study on into
a performance degree in flute and a minor in classical
guitar. Laurie has a keen interest in spirituality and
uses a meditative process to create mandalas for healing.
She also hopes to be a healing presence in the world
as she has recently completed her Master's in Social
Work in May 2007, providing therapeutic case management
in the Manchester area.

Carol has worn many hats in her life thus far, including adult literacy teacher, editor, massage therapist, mother, and aspiring writer. Her love of music has been a constant throughout, and she always had it in the back of her mind to find a group to sing with. After moving to New Hampshire with her husband and daughter in 2006, she discovered Women Spirit Song, and singing has become a joyful focal point ever since. When she is not editing, writing, or singing, Carol loves playing with her family, reading great books, and studying spirituality and healing in its many forms. She is the newest member of AKSARA, joining in 2009, and is thrilled to add her voice to the healing harmonies of her sisters in song.

Nancy's
gentle soprano voice with clear bell-like tones is a
definite asset to the ensemble's vocal blend. Nancy
is a court reporter turned pet sitter - owning her own
business, "Cat-Love." Animals and music have
always been her two top loves. She has studied piano
and voice, singing throughout school in choirs and doing
community theater in Massachusetts. She is an original
member of Women Spirit Song, and is thrilled beyond
words to be singing with the women of Aksara.
Nancy also has an indomitable sense
of humor... a fabulous asset for those overextended
rehearsal sessions.

Vic (Victoria) Schneider has been involved with music
since the age of six at which time she began playing
piano. That first lesson was the door through which
she entered into her world of music. The paths she walked
along the way have led her to become an English teacher,
a composer, arranger, accompanist, recording artist,
choral director of an 85 woman non-auditioned a cappella
community chorus - Women Spirit Song, and artistic director
for AKSARA of which she is also the founder and member.
Since the age of 14 she has literally sung and played
organ and piano at over 1,500 funeral services. The
ministry of healing through music, especially in times
of grief is considered by her to be some of her most
important, fulfilling and sacred work. Victoria has
initiated the nonprofit, INNER HARMONY MUSIC and is
also a practicing evolutionary astrologer and astrology
teacher. She is the composer and performer of “Unfinished
Tapestry” and “Therese’s Song”,
two piano solos on AKSARA’s latest CD, COMFORT
AND GRACE. Her piano composition, "Gently Enter"
musically invites you into the Inner Harmony Music website.

Maryann
Serafin's gentle and flowing alto voice is a rich and
steady grounding tone that distinctly blends with other's
voices. Sublte, yet very present, the listener is brought
in to a deep stillness. Her voice has been compared
to melting chocolate. Maryann is a computer programmer
by profession. She is a member of the St. Catherine's
Adult Choir and enjoys singing both Alto I and II. AKSARA
is Maryann's first small ensemble experience and she
states, "I am growing spiritually every day with
AKSARA's music filling my soul."

musical theater and dance. She is a drummer of African
hand drums and a member of WSS and Spirit Song Drummers.

life with "Mr. Darcy" a very fluffy, grey
and very domesticated cat with half of a "got-milk"
mustache! As Jenn states: "AKSARA continues to
be a spiritual, healing, and self-awakening journey
for me. I feel very blessed to be a part of this group
and to do what I love."

"Witness" from the CD "MELANGE"
and "Falling Star"on the CD "YOU ARE
WITH ME".
